Police have launched an islandwide manhunt for four juvenile inmates who escaped from the Simpson Penn School for boys shortly after 10:00 p.m. Saturday.

According to reports, a supervisor on duty was alerted by noise coming from one of the cottages.

Upon making checks, authorities said, the supervisor discovered an opening in the roof and that a number of boys were missing.

Officers responded to the Fox Hill area where they captured eight of the inmates and returned them to the school. Five, however, were reportedly able to escape.

One of the inmates was found later on Sunday.

Social Services Minister Frankie Campbell, who has responsibility of the school said, moving forward, security measures will have to be re-evaluated.
