10 foreign nationals charged with various offenses

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Two Colombians and one Haitian were arraigned in the Freeport magistrate’s court #2 before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson on March 29, 2019.

Gary Alexander Paez Manotas and Diana Mireya Quintero Briceno were arrested on March 28, 2019 in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

The duo was charged with Overstaying and both were fined $3,000 each or in default of payment, they would serve 18 months at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Jackson Jean was arrested on March 28, 2019 in Freeport, Grand Bahama and was charged with Illegal Landing.

Jean was fined $300or in default of payment, he would serve one year at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Meanwhile, in New Providence, seven Haitian nationals were arraigned before Magistrate Subusola Swain in magistrate court #6. The nationals were convicted of Illegal Landing.

Six were sentenced to one month imprisonment at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services and one was fined $300 or in default of payment would serve one month imprisonment at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Early deportation was ordered for all individuals.
