NASSAU, BAHAMAS: Senior citizens throughout Central and South Andros were celebrated and lifted up in prayer as Member of Parliament Leon Lundy held special events in their honor over the past week.
During a special service of praise and thanksgiving held at Friendship Native Baptist Church in the Bluff, South Andros, Pastor Fairdale Smith encouraged Androsians to hold fast to God through life’s journey, noting that togetherness and brotherly and sisterly love are important aspects of building a strong community.
Seniors enjoyed a special appreciation breakfast hosted by MP Lundy in Central Andros, the church service in The Bluff, and a special awards luncheon on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
The luncheon provided an opportunity for stalwarts to be honored and celebrated for their leadership in the community and their support for the many social events designed to strengthen bonds and encourage positive development.
“You, our stalwart counselors and elders of South Andros, you are the backbone of our organisation,” Lundy told the seniors. “You have given your time and energy when it was inconvenient, your energy when it was exhausting, and your loyalty when it mattered most. You have stood firm in seasons of challenge and remained hopeful in seasons of promise. GThat kind of dedication cannot be purchased. It can only be earned through conviction and love for community.”
“South Andros has always been a place of strength, resilience and quiet determination. That spirit lives in you. Please know that your efforts do not go unnoticed. I see you. I value you. I am deeply grateful for you.”
On Tuesday, February 17, Lundy attended a voter registration drive on the island and on Wednesday, February 18, United States Ambassador Herschell Walker toured Andros with MP Lundy, on the heels of a major energy contract signing for Andros held at the Office of the Prime Minister on Monday past.
