NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Three armed men reportedly burglarized a home in southern New Providence and sexually assaulted a woman who lived there.
According to reports, the incident reportedly occurred shortly after 5am on Sunday.
“Preliminary reports revealed that a male and female along with another family members were at their home situated in Marshall Road, when three males, all of whom were reportedly armed with firearms entered the home,” the police report read.
“The men reportedly, tied up the occupants of the home and robbed them of an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing. It is further reported that during the incident, the female was sexually assaulted.”
It added: “Police are aggressively investigating and appealing to members of the public, who may have any information that can assist police with their investigations to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2 or CRIMESTOPPERS @ 328-TIPS.”
In other criminal matters, police are investigating a shooting incident that has a 69-year-old woman in hospital.
According to reports, police were alerted that gunshots were being discharged in the area of Ross Corner via ShotSpotter around 8.30pm on Sunday.
“Police responded and on arrival, they were informed that the victim was standing in the area of a business establishment when she heard gunshots and discovered she was shot in the leg,” read the police report.
“The victim was taken to hospital via private vehicle, where at present her condition is unknown. Police are investigating and once again appeal to members of the public, to assist in locating the suspect/s.”
Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man is in hospital after he got into an altercation with another man and was stabbed on Saturday.
According to police, the incident reportedly occurred in Stapledon Gardens shortly after 2pm.
“Preliminary reports revealed that two men were at a business establishment when they got into an altercation,” the report read.
“One of the men produced a knife and stabbed the victim to the upper body. The victim was transported to hospital via EMS where he is detained in serious condition. Police are questioning a 46-year-old male in relation to this matter. Police investigations continue.”
