Where are the international NCA investigators for top cop alleged bribery scandal?

play-sharp-fill

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – National Security Minister Wayne Munroe could not confirm to reporters on Friday as to whether or not three (3) investigators from the National Crime Agency are in country to assist with an ongoing investigation into corruption allegations levied against Former Criminal Investigations Department Chief Michael Johnson.

Munroe noted that he “is not involved in the operational side of it. This is being driven by the security and intelligence branch.”

NCA officials were supposed to arrive in country on August 14 with an August 17 departure.

Eyewitness News also made calls to police officials concerning the whereabouts of the investigators; but those officials also could not definitively say if the investigators are on Bahamian soil.

While their presence in country is up in the air, the trio is said to be tasked with scrutinizing serious accusations that Johnson sought to arrange a financial quid pro quo with an alleged gang leader, Michael Fox Jr. who, along with two others, was implicated in a $1.4million heist in November 2023.

Fox Jr, along with the other two suspects, Dino Smith and Oral Roberts were all shot and killed months apart, this year.

Aggrieved relatives of the murdered victims argued that their loved ones were gunned down at the hands of police.

Munroe noted that he expects investigators in the police probe to “investigate every single aspect that bears on the matter.”
