Waitt Foundation looking to expand reach to The Bahamas to build capacity for sustainable ocean research
A Bahamian delegation from the Ministry of Environment had a bilateral meeting with the Waitt Foundation on the sidelines of the United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon, Portugal.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — An organization committed to providing technical support, building a global network, and impacting funding to support our oceans has begun the work to extend its reach to The Bahamas.

The Waitt Foundation, committed to working for sustainable, resilient, and thriving seas on the planet, joined in a bilateral meeting with the Bahamas Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources last week.
The meeting took place at the United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon, Portugal from June 27 to July 1. Ted Waitt was among the foundation’s representatives who participated in the bilateral meeting.

The Bahamian delegation was led by Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources, Vaughn P. Miller. Other delegates included Basil McIntosh, Minister of State, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, and Jerome Fitzgerald, Senior Policy Advisor, Office of the Prime Minister.
Efforts are also being made to extend the Foundation’s reach in The Bahamas and build capacity among Bahamians. Among the topics discussed were initiatives to make environmental stewardship more relatable to all.
The Waitt Foundation partners with governments and stakeholders to create and implement sustainable ocean plans to benefit communities, the economy, and the environment.
