The J.S. Johnson National High School Volleyball Championships kicked off Thursday at both the Anatol Rodgers and A.F. Adderley Schools.
The games will also be split between the two gyms today. However, the championship games will be played at Anatol Rodgers on Saturday.
“We are so thankful to the IL Cares Foundation, J.S. Johnson, Aliv and a number of our sponsors that have come on board to make this all possible,” said senior education officer in the Ministry of Education, Evon Wisdom.
“Seeing the joy on the faces of the kids from the Family Islands is what we do this for. And to add to it , they have gotten better since we saw them last year, so along with creating new experiences for these kids, we are also helping to strengthen the national team pool, and getting more athletes involved with the sport.”
On opening day, the C.V. Bethel Stingrays senior boys knocked off Telos Christian Academy in two sets. Also, in the boy’s division, Kingsway Academy defeated Agape Christian out of Abaco in a sweep, and St. Georges out of Freeport beat Teleos as well.
