Minister of National Security, Marvin Dames.

National Security Minister Marvin Dames shot down assertions Monday that the soon-to-be-introduced value-added tax (VAT) increase could lead to a spike in criminal activity in the country.

The concern has come about as many will join the unemployment line and desperation for some may set in.

Dames, however, refuted the notion and also said that the ministers who voted against the VAT increase, voted against much of the additional resources needed to turn the wheels of the economy.
