NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two citizens of the United States (U.S.), an adult male and a female were taken into custody earlier this week on Tuesday, after they failed to declare a large sum of US currency.
According to police reports, shortly after 4:00 p.m., the couple presented themselves to a US Border Control Officer at Lynden Pindling International Airport for travel into Florida, and failed to declare the true amount of cash in their possession.
The officers conducted a search of the couple and found them to be in possession of US currency in excess of $10,000.
They were handed over to the police and are expected to be formally charged before a magistrate court today or sometime next week.
