UPDATE: Bahamians marked ‘safe’ in Jamaica

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamas Consul General Alveta Knight has confirmed that all Bahamian visitors, residents and students studying in Jamaica are safe; she provided an update on the conditions in Jamaica as Category 4 Hurricane Beryl unleashed its fury on the island nation.

Knight noted that strong winds have led to downed some  lines and there has been a significant amount of rainfall on the isles.

Weather officials reported wind speed up at 130mph on Jamaica’s southern coast. Hurricane Beryl has now downgraded to a Category 3 storm and is scheduled to make landfall in Mexico tomorrow.
