Undelivered ballots throws wrench in nurses union strike action plan

Labour Minister Senator Dion Foulkes confirmed Thursday that the strike vote poll taken by members of the Bahamas Nurses Union (BNU) on June 7 has been declared null and void.

In a statement released yesterday afternoon, both the Department of Labour and the nurses union agreed that no ballots were not delivered to Inagua, Mayaguana, and San Salvador, thus making the vote null and void.

Attempts to reach union officials on the matter were unsuccessful.

The ‘null and void’ declaration however, means that the union will have to restart the process before it is allowed to take any strike action.
