A new policy launched Wednesday at the University of The Bahamas (UB) will require all undergraduate students to participate in an exchange programme by the end of their third year.

UB President Dr. Rodney Smith unveiled the new policy while announcing the Jane and Marcus Bethel scholarship.

Rubie Nottage – daughter of the Bethels – said the $100,000 scholarship will provide four freshman students with $2,000 each to assist with their expenses at UB as well as provide 10 third-year students with $1,000 each to have an experience abroad.

The Bethels’ son Dr. Marcus Bethel said he hopes the scholarship will inspire others to give back to the country in a meaningful way.
