Tourist robbed while walking the PI bridge, two arrested

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police on the Island of New Providence have taken two persons into custody in connection with an armed robbery which occurred on Tuesday, February 5.

According to police reports, shortly after 4:00 a.m., on Tuesday, a male was walking south on the eastern Paradise Island Bridge, when he was approached by three men, who forced him into a vehicle and robbed him of cash and an I-phone.

The men drove the victim to an ATM and forced him to withdraw cash, before putting him out of the vehicle and speeding away.

A short time later, acting on information, Tourism Police Unit Officers searched a home and vehicle on Abundant Life Road, and recovered the victim’s cell phone and a small amount of cash.

An adult male and female, who were present during the time of the search were taken into custody.

Investigations are ongoing.
