Murder count pushed to 56 for 2019
NASSAU, BAHAMAS- A man was shot and killed and two others injured in Coconut Grove yesterday, authorities reported.
According to police, a group of people were sitting in the yard of a residence on Amos Ferguson Street, off Palmetto Avenue, when two gunmen approached the group and opened fire, before fleeing.
The survivors were taken to hospital and listed in stable condition.
The victim, who identity was not released, died on scene.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
Superintendent Shanta Knowles said based on preliminary investigations, police believe a number of people were outside at the time of the shooting and may have witnessed the incident.
Knowles appealed for anyone with information to contact authorities.
She noted that the P3 crime application which allows residents to report information on crime anonymously in addition to the standardized methods of reporting crimes to police.
The incident pushed the murder count to 56 for 2019.
