Three men were charged in court Tuesday in connection with the July 19 armed robbery of the Ministry of Education’s Learning Resources Unit on Mackey Street.
Tyrell Higgs, 25; Tamiko Turner, 36 and Randolph Bain, 35, all appeared before Magistrate Soubusola Swain.
Prosecutors allege that shortly after 2:00 a.m. on the date in question, the three armed men entered the property of the Learning Resources Unit, held the security officer and another man hostage, and robbed the security officer of a cell phone and a set of keys.
The alleged robbers were later captured by police, who recovered a 9mm pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition, and the stolen property.
The trio was not asked to enter a plea and bail was denied. They are expected to return to court on November 1 and will remain behind bars until then.
