Donald Thomas picked up his second win of the season in the men’s high jump on Saturday at the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) Continental Cup in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
Thomas finished with a mark of 2.30 meters (m). He also attempted 2.34m but was unsuccessful. Brandon Starc, from Australia, was second overall with a jump of 2.30m, and Maskin Nedasekau, from Berlin, was third with a mark of 2.27m.
“I just tried to go out there and have fun,” Thomas said.
“I was glad to come out here and be able to represent the people of the Americas. Although this meet isn’t about individual performances, this is a good way to blow off some steam from the season.”
Thomas earned eight points for Team Americas in the win. The Americas ultimately went on to win the competition, taking 18 of the 37 events contested at the two-day meet.
