The New Duff heats things up with release of ‘Guavalava’ hot sauce

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Once again The New Duff hits another milestone with another expansion of their product line: a sweet and spicy guava hot sauce called ‘Guavalava’.

The sauce, which is now sold at the company’s storefront on West Bay Street, has been touted as great on everything from conch fritters to wings and ribs.

Due to a pleasantly alarming public demand for the sauce, the 100 percent Bahamian-owned company has stepped up production on the new product and the entrepreneurs in charge have promised to keep their forward-thinking and innovative flare when it comes to the development of the company that was once only known for its guava duff.

CEO – Owner Kendrick Delaney shared: “It’s really important for us to keep the spirit of innovation alive when it comes to product development.

“Hot sauce has, of course, been done before, but whenever we create something new, we want to not only keep Bahamian tastes in mind, but we also want to have the flavor profile be unique and have international appeal as well.”

The quickly growing company, also now serving breakfast sandwiches and lunch, has also started accepting international tour groups from local tour companies and has enjoyed an uptick in business thanks in part to the loosened pandemic restrictions, the rebounding tourism market, their menu offerings and their friendly staff.

International tour guests get to enjoy a warm welcome from one of The New Duff staff, a growing museum wall with Bahamian antiques on display, shelves with branded products for purchase, inclusive of the now extremely popular Guavalava and, definitely not least, samples of the now famous guava duff and samples of iced tea from their beverage partner, Bahleaf Teas.

Co-owner – Business Development & Public Relations Lazar Delorenzo Charlton commented: “We were all really excited about the release of our hot sauce.

“It’s only the beginning of a line of sauces that we hope to launch over the course of the year and what keeps us going is the absolutely amazing response we’ve had from both the Bahamian public and our international visitors that keep scooping it off the shelves.

“We pride ourselves on building our company with superior products and we’re happy that the support of our loyal customers has helped us do just that with Guavalava as well.

“Customer satisfaction through innovation is at the core of our business development model.”

Co-owner – Operations Ryan Lightbourne added: “We have a lot in the pipeline this year and as excited as we are, we’re keeping the laser focus on keeping the ship steady and keeping the customers happy with what we’re now known for — fantastic products.

The New Duff continues to have all four flavors of its fresh-frozen duff in the freezer section of Fresh Market Harbour Bay and Fresh Market Old Fort Bay.
