Teen dies in early morning traffic collision

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 17-year-old male is the country’s latest traffic fatality, after he succumbed to his injuries in an early morning collision on Thursday.

According to police reports, a gray Nissan Note with four occupants was travelling East on the Frank Watson Highway in southwest New Providence, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with several trees on the southern side of the street.

Traffic investigators said the vehicle overturned on impact and two of the passengers were ejected through the windshield.

Police said the teen, a rear seat passenger, died on impact.

He was identified by police as Bernard Saunders of Marathon Estates.

The remaining three occupants of the vehicle are detained at the Princess Margaret Hospital and at Doctors Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police said investigations will continue.
