The Bahamas men’s basketball team advanced to the next round of the FIBA 2021 Americup Pre-Qualifiers after posting two wins in Belize City,Belize this weekend.
Last night, The Bahamas used a third-quarter scoring surge to pull away from host country Belize to secure an 86-72 win.
Michael Carey led The Bahamas with 21 points.
Kentwan Smith had 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Shaquille Cleare chipped in with 16 points.
Cleare opened the third quarter on a personal 8-0 run that created some separation between the teams. The Bahamas went on to outscore Belize 22-13 in the period and held on to the lead the rest of the way.
On Saturday, The Bahamas knocked off Antigua and Barbuda 110-56. It suffered its only loss of the tournament on Friday against Cuba (88-74).
