Tax Dispute: Govt. & Sandals in discussions

NASSAU, BAHAMAS-Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper confirmed that Sandals, Emerald Bay and the Department of Inland Revenue remain locked in dialogue concerning monies which are allegedly owed to the public purse by the mega resort.

Sandals reportedly owes the Department of Inland Revenue (DIR) a sum of $30M, while Cooper was unable to confirm the exact figure that is being disputed, he said he believes that it is simply a matter of “difference in interpretations.” He asserted that the matter will be arbitrated by the court.
