While public debate suggests that Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) needs to do a better job at protecting its client assets, Minister of Finance Brent Symonette suggested that cardholders should consider being more vigilant to protect their own interests.

RBC’s international office spoke to the issue noting that they were working to address the problem, while the local office has yet to respond to the issue.
