Sunny Isles and Crown Ice commits to rebuild in Grand Bahama

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Longstanding Grand Bahama Water Company Sunny Isles and Crown Ice has committed to rebuild its operations following Hurricane Dorian’s catastrophic impact on the island.

A month on, the company has not been able to resume production due to substantial damage sustained from the monster Category 5 storm.

A statement issued by Crown Ice & Refrigeration Northwestern Manufacturing explained the company took “great measures” to ensure it was fully stocked ahead of the storm but could not have prepared for Dorian’s fury.

“The management and staff of Sunny Isles and Crown Ice were devastated to see the destruction that our beautiful island endured last month,” the statement read.

“Due to the substantial damage sustained at our businesses, we regret to inform you that we are unable to produce our products. We went to great measures to make sure that we were fully stocked and ready to serve our customers as soon as the storm passed, but we could never have prepared for the destruction that Hurricane Dorian brought to our doors.”

It continued: “We have been cleaning, and sorting out our buildings as well as working with our suppliers to order new equipment which we hope will have us back in business as soon as possible.

“We have been very appreciative of your business over the years and ask for your patience as we work to rebuild and restore, we will keep you updated as we progress.

The statement added: “Our prayers and commitment to Grand Bahama people will continue.”
