NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Director of Social Services Lillian Quant-Forbes has started pre-retirement leave and is expected to officially retire in April, according to Social Services Minister Frankie Campbell.

Campbell advised that Kim Sawyer, the former deputy director, is now acting director of the Department of Social Services.

He noted that Quant-Forbes began her pre-retirement leave about a month ago.

The veteran technocrat made her contribution predominately on Grand Bahama and spent at least three years as acting director.

“I extend the gratitude of the government and people of The Bahamas and I wish her well in her future endeavors,” he said.

“I’m satisfied that the team at the Department of Social Services will give her (Sawyer) the same type of support that they would have given to Director Quant and we will continue.”
