Smith assumes role of deputy director of Supplies Management Agency

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Chief Pharmacist at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) Dr Marvin Smith has been appointed to deputy director at the Supplies Management Agency.

Smith, who assumed the role on Monday, will be responsible for procurement planning, quality, monitoring, and evaluation.

The agency has had long-standing challenges with global supply management and the turnover of its leadership due to the death of former director Susan Pratt and the retirement of Acting Director Audley Bain.

Smith held the position of chief pharmacist of PMH and Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre since October 2017.

Bain, the deputy director since 2016, assumed the role of acting director after Pratt’s passing on January 14.

The SMA is responsible for ensuring the medical supply needs of the northern Bahamas.
