Shooting claims two male lives, bumps homicide count

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Two people lost their lives last night after a shooting occurred in the vicinity of Pineyard Road.

One of the men has been identified as Jamie Tynes, a son of Former Chief Clerk of the House of Assembly Maurice Tynes.

Police Press Liaison Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings confirmed that police officials arrived on the scene after 9 pm, and revealed that both male murder victims were in their late 40’s.

It is reported that gunmen ambushed the men upon arriving at a residence through Kemps Court. A search of the victims’ vehicle uncovered a “considerable” amount of drugs, according to police.
Skippings also noted that both men had previously been in police custody for drug-related offenses.
Free National Movement Deputy Leader, Shanendon Cartwright, was shaken up on the scene after learning his childhood friend was one of the men gunned down.
Cartwright emphasized to the media that this crime fight is a collective effort, and it’s time for all stakeholders to be at the table to defeat crime in the country.
