Securities Commission: Creators Alliance shows ‘hallmarks of pyramid scheme’

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Securities Commission of The Bahamas has issued a warning regarding Creators Alliance, stating that the company’s operations bear the “hallmarks of a pyramid scheme.”

“It has come to the attention of the Commission that Creators Alliance (CA) may be conducting activities, in or from within The Bahamas, that are either registrable/licensable or illegal under one or more of the Acts,” the notice stated. “The Commission hereby advises the public that CA and its agents/representatives are not registered with or licensed by the Commission. Furthermore, its activity may constitute a violation of one or more of the Acts.”

According to the Commission, Creators Alliance appears to be an organization based in California, USA. The Commission’s preliminary findings suggest that the company engages in marketing through purported promotional videos of varying content. However, further investigation has determined that the entity operates a multi-level structure, recruiting individuals into the program at several tiers.

Recruiters are promised income based on the size of their recruitment network. To join, individuals are required to invest a sum of money—referred to as a “purchase price”—for a period of six to seven months. During this so-called “investment period,” participants are promised a daily income simply by watching videos. They are also assured that their initial investment will be returned at the end of the term.

“This activity by Creators Alliance has the hallmarks of a pyramid scheme, which is classified as a Financial Scheme under the Financial and Corporate Service Providers Act, 2020. This renders CA an unlawful operation within this jurisdiction,” the Commission noted.

The Commission further warned: “Individuals conducting business with CA or its agents/representatives should be aware that they are doing so with an entity that is not authorized or regulated by the Commission. From all indications, the entity is operating unlawfully. We strongly advise anyone considering engaging with CA to exercise extreme caution and avoid potential financial loss.”

The Securities Commission recently confirmed that it has launched an official investigation into Creators Alliance amid growing concerns that the platform, which promotes itself as a short-form video content creation and distribution service, may be operating as a scam. This comes after users began reporting that the company had ceased issuing payouts.

Similar concerns have reportedly emerged in St. Lucia and Puerto Rico, where entities operating under the same name have also stopped making payments. Participants in those countries are now reportedly seeking out managers of the operation, with some alleging identity theft and other forms of fraud.

Creators Alliance markets itself as a platform for video content creation, claiming to offer lucrative returns for users who “invest” in its packages. According to its website:

“We are the world’s leading short video content creation and distribution platform, adhering to the mission of ‘Let the world see more beautiful.’ The platform mainly provides copyright business operation services, content promotion services, content distribution services, AI-intelligent advertising services, etc. It is committed to providing users with a simple, fast, efficient, and high-value content open platform.”

Social media activity suggests the platform has been operating in The Bahamas for several months. While some users claim to have withdrawn both initial investments and profits, many others remain skeptical, citing growing concerns about the legitimacy of the operation. The platform appears to have launched in its current form around 2020.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force has also confirmed it is investigating Creators Alliance. In response to mounting scrutiny, Creators Alliance manager Shiro Hing recently released a statement attempting to reassure users:

“I want to take a moment to clear up any concerns that have arisen over the past few hours. Creators Alliance has not crashed. Instead, we have made an elaborate shift to a new system that will greatly enhance security, efficiency, and overall user experience. Earlier today, I had a conversation with our Founder, Mark Eddo, regarding these changes. He reassured me that this transition was a necessary step in strengthening the platform and ensuring long-term sustainability for all members.

While we understand that this shift may have caused temporary disruptions, please know that this was all part of a carefully planned upgrade. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Rest assured that all salaries will be processed and received within the next few hours as final adjustments to the system are completed. We appreciate your patience, trust, and commitment to Creators Alliance. If you have any questions or need assistance, our support team is available to help.”
