ANDROS, BAHAMAS — Scotiabank Bahamas has announced the temporary closure of its Nicholl’s Town branch following the confirmation of a case of COVID-19 at the branch.
The branch is tentatively set to reopen on Monday, November 30 while affected employees complete the mandatory 14-day self-isolation and quarantine period.
A statement released by Scotiabank Bahamas on Thursday noted, “In the interim, customers will be routed to the banks’ alternative delivery channels and customer care mailbox for remote assistance where needed.
“The bank continues to work very closely with the Ministry of Health to have all staff members from that branch tested.”
In the statement, Scotiabank Bahamas Managing Director Roger Archer shared that the bank continues to prioritize the health and safety of its customers and employees.
“While this temporary closure is necessary, our support team remains committed to providing banking services to our customers attached to the Nicholl’s Town branch,” he said.
He also shared that despite the closure, the bank’s ATM located on-site will be available for basic account services and transactions, including balance checks, withdrawals, funds transfers and other services. However, the company advised that “ATM deposits and night depository access will unfortunately be restricted for the duration of the branch closure”.
Archer further advised, “We continue to assess the situation and will be working closely with our support agencies during the period to maintain basic services at our ATMs. All customers can also continue to use their Scotia debit or credit cards to make purchases at stores and business places using point of sale machines.”
The company noted that customers can use Scotia Online Banking or the Scotia Mobile app to check account balances and control access and use of cards; transfer funds to anyone at any local bank; transfer funds between Scotiabank Accounts; pay bills; and pay loans and credit cards for free 24 hours per day while the branch is closed.
“Business customers with Online Cash Management Services can continue to make wire payments online,” the statement read.
“Scotiabank strongly urges all its customers to sign up for online banking in order to conduct their banking transactions safely from the comfort of their homes. The bank also offers digital alerts that allow customers to remain current on any account activity.
“Customers interested in registering for online banking or in need of further assistance may call the Scotiabank Contact Center at (242) 356-1697.
