NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Sandals Royal Bahamian, renowned not only for its world-class luxury, but for its deep connection to the people and communities of the Bahamas, went above and beyond to mark a momentous occasion recently. This was the 99th birthday of Mrs. Carmetta Rolle, a community stalwart and beloved mother and grandmother. In a heartfelt gesture of love and appreciation, the resort offered a personalized birthday experience fit for a queen, showering the Bahamian matriarch with care and joy.
On the day in question, Mrs. Rolle glowed in a stunning lavender and pink ensemble, a radiant smile never leaving her face. The resort ensured she traveled in comfort arriving to pick her up for church in one of their signature Rolls Royce transfers. After the service, she was chauffeured to the resort in the same luxury, where she was warmly greeted by the members of the leadership team and surrounded by those who were eager to celebrate her life.
The day continued with an exquisite meal at one of the resort’s five-star global gourmet dining options. Mrs. Rolle, though reserved, expressed her happiness in the most meaningful way which was through her beaming smiles and quiet joy.
A woman who has been the heart of her community, Mrs. Rolle’s kindness and strength have impacted countless lives. Her grandson, Nashon Rolle, reached out to Sandals Royal Bahamian with a heartfelt request to help make his grandmother’s 99th birthday even more extraordinary. The resort’s response was an emphatic “yes.”
“We believe in creating unforgettable moments for all our guests. Mrs. Rolle was undoubtedly deserving of an extraordinary experience. Her life of service and love has touched so many and it was an honor to give her a small token of the care and devotion she has so generously given throughout her life,” said Hotel Manager Delino Moss.
Born in Exuma and now a resident of Nassau, she has held key positions in both her church and community, guiding and supporting others for decades.
Mrs. Rolle has lived a life filled with triumph but the revered matriarch has endured heartbreak too. And her resilience is unmatched.
Her grandson, Nashon, shared the deeply personal losses his grandmother has endured; “when she was just 25, her two-year-old daughter passed away in her arms. Isolated on a remote island without any help, there was nothing she could do to save her. That pain was unbearable for her. She has also buried 10 of her 11 siblings,” he said, his voice tinged with emotion.
“Despite the pain, she’s lived her life with strength and grace and we are so grateful to Sandals for helping us honor her. You only turn 99 once,” Nashon added with a chuckle. “The day would not have been the same without their kindness and support.”
In a world often busy with the demands of daily life, Sandals Royal Bahamian’s tribute to Mrs. Rolle reminds us all of the enduring power of community, love, and respect. It’s a reminder that the most beautiful celebrations are those rooted in heartfelt connections.
