Sandals announces appointment of director of external affairs and community relations in The Bahamas

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Sandals Resorts International (SRI) has announced the appointment of Bahamian national Wentworth “Chuck” Roberts to the post of director of external affairs and community relations.

Roberts, who has been employed with the Sandals Group since 2007, first joined the company as evening duty manager at Sandals Royal Bahamian before being promoted to assistant manager in 2010. As assistant manager, he worked alongside the resort’s general manager to oversee the day-to-day resort activities, but also held responsibility for transportation and airport operations.

After quickly proving himself an expert in the field, Roberts was later promoted to special projects manager at Sandals Royal Bahamian, which saw him taking on the additional responsibility of managing all immigration, customs and government-related matters on behalf of the resort and the company’s additional holdings in The Bahamas.

As director of external affairs and community relations (Bahamas), Roberts will continue his exceptional work as the company’s government liaison and will now serve as the official designate in all matters relating to community relations, immigration, customs and government affairs in the islands of The Bahamas, representing Sandals Royal Bahamian, Sandals Emerald Bay and Fowl Cay Villas.

Speaking on Roberts’ promotion and new appointment, the company’s Executive Chairman Adam Stewart said: “Over the years, Chuck has proven to be resourceful, knowledgeable and reliable. These traits have resulted in several promotions and also endeared him to my dad, our late founder and chairman with whom he worked very closely, managing and overseeing special assignments in The Bahamas on his behalf.

“We are very proud of Chuck and look forward to continuing our wonderful work together in The Bahamas.”

Before this latest promotion, Roberts served as senior director of transportation and special projects at Sandals Royal Bahamian, a role he successfully held for almost three years.
