Rolle inks deal with Baltimore Orioles

Another Bahamian baseball player has been afforded the opportunity to play professionally.

James Rolle is the latest local player to ink a pro deal, signing yesterday with the Baltimore Orioles.

Rolle is a product of the International Elite Academy, which was started in 2017 by former players Geron Sands and Albert Cartwright.

Rolle now awaits his minor league assignment as he begins his journey to the big league.

“Our goal right now is to produce productive young men,” said Sands. “We mentor these kids and try to instill positive habits where we can, both on and off the field. I know a lot of people are looking to get into baseball, especially in recent times, but not everyone is prepared to put in the kind of work it takes to get a scholarship or play professionally.

“These kids are training six hours each day, six days a week. That takes a lot of hard work and dedication. It’s one thing to have talent, but you have to be able to put in the work if you want to make anything of the experience.
