NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Cotton Bay Holdings yesterday announced that it has reached an agreement with Marriott International Inc to bring the Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand to The Bahamas.

The resort and residential development on Eleuthera is planned as an open-air luxury resort and is expected to feature 90 guest rooms and 60 Ritz-Carlton Reserve branded residences, designed to include a mixture of two to five-bedroom villas.

Our partnership with Marriott and its Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand will elevate the tourism product and hospitality experience on the island of Eleuthera while creating opportunities for Bahamians and local businesses.

The project is expected to stimulate 300 jobs during its construction phase, which is planned to be undertaken in three stages. It is projected that the resort will open in four years and once operational, will employ 200 Bahamians.

Daniel Zuleta, spokesperson for Cotton Bay Holdings, said: “We have been a part of the Bahamian landscape for over 25 years, working alongside the government of The Bahamas and the community of South Eleuthera to create opportunities for growth and development.

“We are very excited to now partner with Marriott International to combine world-class hospitality with island magnificence and the stunning natural beauty of The Bahamas.

“We believe that this project will transform the economy of Eleuthera.”

The development will be located at the site of the historic Cotton Bay Club, originally built in 1959.

The resort will bring one of only five other Ritz-Carlton Reserves globally to The Bahamas. In addition to first-class amenities and services, a signature 18-hole golf course, deluxe spa, swimming pools and restaurants are planned for the island retreat.

“We choose Marriott because we wanted to work with the best brand in the world to develop this island sanctuary in Eleuthera, and Marriott, but specifically The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is the perfect brand to harness the magic and seclusion of Eleuthera,” Zuleta said.

“Our partnership with Marriott and its Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand will elevate the tourism product and hospitality experience on the island of Eleuthera while creating opportunities for Bahamians and local businesses.

“It is our hope that our long-standing partnership with this island will continue and lead to significant growth and economic opportunities for future generations of Eleutherans.”
