Robinson says no to uniform cuts

Bain and Grants Town Member of Parliament Travis Robinson sounded off on the Ministry of Social Services Wednesday after its minister Frankie Campbell told the media on Wednesday that his ministry slashed funding for its school uniform programme.

Robinson said the action directly affects the most vulnerable in the country, particularly those in the inner city.

In a statement issued yesterday, Robinson noted that he is mindful of the country’s current financial constraints, however, the uniform cutback programme comes at a time when the cost of living has increased.

He argued that inner-city communities need a fair opportunity for assistance and told Eyewitness News that he intends to meet with Campbell to address his concerns.

Robinson maintained that the underprivileged should be the last to suffer from budget cuts considering they are already grappling with economic hardship.
