RBDF engineers complete technical course

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s Engineering Department held a certificate presentation ceremony at Machinery and Energy limited (M&E) to honor ten participants who completed the Caterpillar Electronic Technician Course last Friday.

The two-day course facilitated at the M&E compound was designed to impart knowledge of the Service Information System (SIS) and introduce each participant to the acquisition of information from electronic control modules on Caterpillar equipment using its software to monitor, troubleshoot, and if necessary, reset or program these engines. Considering that nearly 90 percent of the vessels in the fleet operate with Caterpillar engines and generators, this course plays a vital role in the perpetuation of the fleet’s machinery.

Able Seaman Akeino Munroe receives his certification.

The Engineering Department expresses gratitude to Mr. Walter Khalil, the head of the M&E training department, as well as Mr. Harrison Newbold, Tech Communicator, Mr. Ahrio Guzman, Product Support Manager, Donahue Mackey, Service Tech, and the entire M&E team, who contributed and participated in the success of the course.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to defending the territorial waters of The Bahamas while maintaining Operational Readiness and Operational Efficiency.
