Consumers can now breathe a sigh of relief as local banking fees are set to decrease according to Labour Minister Dion Foulkes.
The minister revealed to media houses Tuesday that, following long discussions with the clearing banks association and widespread discontent from the public on the high fees, the banks have agreed to cut those costs to their consumers.
Some consumers, however, told Eyewitness News yesterday that the banks should take it a step further and eliminate the fees altogether.
