Political Sign Dispute Brewing in Grand Bahama as GBPA Removes Campaign Signs

FREEPORT, GRAND BAHAMA – A political sign war appears to be brewing in Grand Bahama as the election season heats up.

Eyewitness News understands that political signs were removed from areas around the Port last night, reportedly by officials from the Grand Bahama Port Authority.

Party representatives, upon discovering the signs had been taken down, reportedly made complaints to police, describing the matter as theft.

But according to GBPA bylaws, no political signage is allowed until the writ of election is issued. This policy has been reportedly shared with political parties for years, and all parties reportedly recently agreed to the terms.

Eyewitness News is also made to understand that Progressive Liberal Party signs were first erected during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the island.

That move reportedly triggered a response from other political parties, including the Free National Movement, which then placed signs of their own.

Now, according to a well-placed source, the GBPA is standing firm and had all political signs removed overnight.
