Minister of National Security Marvin Dames confirmed to Eyewitness News that his ministry has allocated funds within the 2018/2019 Budget for the introduction of body cameras before June 2019.

Touted as the next level of protection and accurate recalling of incidents that transpire among local armed forces, body cameras have become a useful tool overseas, particularly as concerns of police brutality mounts.

Here at home, it’s rapidly becoming an issue, with eight fatal police-involved shootings since the start of the year.

In fact many residents told Eyewitness News that body cams will bring speedy justice or vindication.
