Assistant Commissioner of Police, Clayton Fernander, yesterday said that the man fatally shot by police officers yesterday was a known to authorities and wanted by police. He stressed to the general public that, while police officers are being heavily scrutinized for their use of deadly force, the force’s primary mandate has, and will always be, the safety of the general public and it’s officers.
