ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS – A man was shot by police in Lower Bogue, Eleuthera on Sunday, according to police.
Responding to reports of gunshots at a nightclub in the area around 3 a.m., police said they saw a man with a machine gun.
According to police, the man pointed the weapon towards the approaching officers, who “engaged him and shot him to the lower body”.
Police said they recovered the weapon.
The suspect was taken to a local clinic on the island and later transported to New Providence for further medical treatment.
His condition as of yesterday was unclear.
Police also reported that a woman was shot in the nightclub.
She was listed in stable condition in hospital.
