Police seize nearly 400lbs of suspected marijuana

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Seven men are in police custody after they were found in possession of over 390 pounds of suspected Marijuana yesterday.

According to police, officers attached to operation Ceasefire executed a search warrant on a home located on Munnings Drive and discovered 15 crocus sacks of suspected Marijuana around 12.20pm.

The drugs have an estimated street value of over $39,600 dollars.

Investigations continue.

Meanwhile, in Grand Bahama, a 48-year-old woman from Hawksbill was arrested after she was reportedly found in possession quantity of suspected marijuana shortly after 5pm on Friday.

According to reports, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department executed a search warrant on a residence on Abaco Drive, where they discovered the drugs and also confiscated $131 suspected to be proceeds of crime.

In a separate matter, Police arrested two men, aged 42 and 28, from Hunters after they were found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana on Friday.

“Preliminary reports revealed that shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Friday 6th January 2023 officers attached to the Criminal Investigation Department executed a search warrant on a home in Hunters, where a quantity of suspected marijuana was found,” the report read.

“Subsequently, a male was arrested. Officers also conducted a search of a vehicle parked on that premises and arrested the second male after he was found in possession of a quantity of suspected drugs.”

Police also arrested a 65-year-old man from West End after he was found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana and cocaine on Friday.

“Preliminary reports revealed that shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Friday 6th January 2023 officers from the West End Division, Rapid Response Team, and K-9 Unit executed a search warrant on a residence on Queen’s Highway, where they discovered the drugs,” the report read.

“Additionally, officers confiscated two hundred and forty-nine ($249.00) suspected to be proceeds of crime.”

Police investigations into all matters are ongoing.
