Police seize firearms in two separate incidents

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two (2) firearms were confiscated by the police in separate incidents on Thursday, August 1, 2024; authorities have confirmed that in one of these incidents resulted in the arrest of two adult males.

The first incident took place around 10:00 a.m. on Williams Lane off Kemp Road. Acting on
information, officers from the Tourism Policing Division searched a bushy area and seized an
unlicensed firearm, police said.

This incident resulted in no arrest, authorities revealed.

In the second incident, Mobile Division officers conducted a routine stop-and-search of a vehicle
with two male occupants at Jack Fish Drive and Carmichael Road around 10:25 a.m. Officers
found a firearm with ammunition and a significant amount of suspected marijuana in the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the two 26-year-old male occupants, investigators said.

The suspected marijuana’s street value and estimated weight are currently unknown.

Investigations are ongoing.
