Police recover two illegal firearms in separate incidents

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) recovered two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence in two separate incidents.

In the first incident, shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, Drug Enforcement Officers while on routine patrol on Thompson Lane off East Street, observed a group of men near a building, acting in a suspicious manner.

As the officers approached, the men ran, making good their escape. The officers conducted a search of the immediate area and recovered a .45 Glock Pistol along with a quantity of marijuana.

In the second incident, police reported that shortly before 1:00 a.m. om, Wednesday, March 13, 2019, Flying Squad Officers, acting on intelligence, conducted a search of the Nassau Village park and discovered a .26 Glock Pistol with two magazines.

No arrests were made in these incidents and investigations are ongoing.
