Police recover firearms in two separate incidents

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police have recovered two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence in two separate incidents on Friday, January 25.

In the first incident, according to police reports, shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Southern Division Officers, acting on information, went to a bushy area on Laird Street, where they searched and recovered a silver and black 9-millimetre pistol.

No arrest was made in this incident and investigations are ongoing.

In the second incident, shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Anti-Gang and Firearms officers were on patrol on Scott Street, Bain Town, when they searched a male and recovered from his trousers a .45 pistol and 10 rounds of ammunition.

The male was subsequently taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a magistrate court this week.
