Police investigating traffic fatality on Grand Bahama

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Police on Grand Bahama Island are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic traffic accident that claimed the life of a 33-year-old man of Holmes Rock.

Police say that sometime around 5 am on Saturday, they received reports that a black 2008 Nissan Fuga driven by a man was traveling west in the vicinity of Holmes Rock, when his vehicle rolled over an unidentified object in the middle of the street.  The driver eventually stopped and discovered a man’s lifeless body in the street.  The local doctor visited the scene, examined the body, and pronounced the victim dead. 

Police have also reported that they are aware of a video being circulated on social media involving a student and two police officers. 

“The organization is concerned about the behavior displayed by the officers involved and has subsequently launched an extensive investigation into the matter. The police wish to remind the public of its commitment to providing quality law enforcement services and that where incidents of misconduct are exhibited by its members, police will take quick and decisive actions,” police said in a statement.
