NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Following the 2019 New Year’s Day Junkanoo parade, police reported that a shooting incident unfolded on Market Street shortly before noon on Tuesday.
According to reports, a male was walking with other persons on Market Street, near C.R. Walker Senior High School, when he was approached by a man who was armed with a firearm.
The lone gunman reportedly fired a shot at the man, police confirmed.
The suspect fled then ran away from the scene, according to authorities.
Police said the man was transported to the hospital and is listed in serious condition.
Authorities appeal to members of the public for any information that can assist in identifying and locating the person or persons responsible for this incident.
Investigations are ongoing.
