NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Police on the island of Mayaguana are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash landing of a plane in the mangrove yesterday.
Press Liaison Assistant Superintendent Audley Peters said officers rescued a man, who said he was traveling to Governors Harbor, Eleuthera, from Puerto Rico when the aircraft began to experience mechanical difficulties.
Police received reports of a plane crash in the vicinity of Mayaguana shortly after 12pm.
“As a result, air and sea assets were deployed [and] the officers later discovered a plane that crash-landed into the mangroves half a mile out on the coast of Mayaguana,” read a statement.
Peters said the man was airlifted to seek medical attention.
