Police investigate two alleged armed robbery incidents

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are investigating two (2) alleged armed robbery incidents that happened in the capital overnight.

In the first incident, around 10:15 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, two (2) unknown males, one brandishing a firearm, approached a male and a female occupant of a blue BYD vehicle at a beach parking lot on East Bay Street, robbing them of the vehicle, a sum of cash, and other personal belongings before they fled east along East Bay Street, police said.

In the final incident, shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, the victim was driving his blue Suzuki Swift on the Western Road in the vicinity of Jaws beach when a dark-colored Japanese vehicle obstructed his path, authorities revealed.

It is reported that an unknown male allegedly armed with a firearm exited the Japanese vehicle, approached the victim, and robbed him of his car, investigators said.

The suspect then left the scene, with the accomplice vehicle following closely behind, according to police.

Police investigations continue into this matter.
