Police dependants supported by CWCO donation

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Just before her fourth birthday, ReSadé Burrows’ world changed completely when her father, Detective Corporal 2453 Desmond D Burrows, tragically passed away in the course of duty. She, like other children with the same traumatizing experience, was left with one fewer parent to look up to, and with her mother, had to find outside assistance to navigate this new reality.

Consolidated Water (Bahamas) Ltd (CWCO) recognizes the important role community partners have in supporting children in this circumstance, and has regularly contributed to the Royal Bahamas Police Force Dependants’ Trust.

The trust is a programme that assists on an as-needs basis the dependants of police officers who have died as a result of injuries sustained during the course of duty; police officers who have become incapacitated as a result of physical or mental injury sustained during the course of duty; and the dependants of such officers.

Burrows, now a college student, is appreciative of the trust’s assistance, which has been beneficial since she was a preschooler, and is especially thankful to the donors such as CWCO who help fund the trust.

“Having the support of the trust has added an additional layer to my academic support system. Knowing that there are persons other than my immediate family who are just as, if not more, invested in my educational success reminds me to keep pushing forward during those brief moments when I feel a little discouraged,” she said.

During a recent cheque presentation, CWCO General Manager Bryan Russell emphasized that the reverse osmosis water supplier is one of the many companies that roots for the success of the trust’s beneficiaries.

“Members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force put their lives on the line to protect the residents of The Bahamas each and every day. While it is unfortunate that tragic incidents sometimes occur, the trust brings some comfort and financial relief to those left behind.

“Consolidated Water Ltd remains committed to supporting the youth of The Bahamas. In this vein, we are pleased to contribute toward the provision of necessities like education to innocent children left without a mother or father.

“The trust boasts of many successful students, like ReSadé, who grow up and become productive citizens despite their great loss. CWCO applauds the great strides being made by the many who benefit from the Royal Bahamas Police Force Dependants’ Trust.”
