PM: IAAF not feasible for govt.

Prime Minister, Dr. Hubert Minnis.

Prime Minister Dr. Huber Minnis responded to concerns of pulling out of the IAAF World Relays just 10 months before the competition’s  May 2019 debut, insisting that government’s first priority is doing what is in the best interest of the country.

During a press conference on Sunday, Dr. Minnis emphasized that the government must prioritise its responsibilities, regardless of the implications to the country’s reputation.

While The Bahamas has hosted the relays since their inception, the prime minister said due to the country’s economic standing, The Bahamas would be unable to host the event this time around.

Suggestions were made to engage in public-private partnerships (PPP) to carry out the event, however, Dr. Minnis noted that that plan was also not feasible.
