A government delegation led by Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minis and Education Minister Jeff Lloyd, toured a number of government schools on New Providence Saturday to inspect and ensure the facilities would be ready for the opening of the new academic year next month.
The cost of repairs for schools in New Providence, according to the education minister, comes in at just under $8 million, while repairs for schools in the Family Islands are estimated at $2 million.
Public Works Director Melanie Roach said the government issued smaller contracts this year to ensure that the scope of work is completed in time for the new academic year.
Lloyd also noted that preparations are being made to fully digitize all public school campuses.
