As the 73rd Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly wrapped up in New York Friday evening, world leaders said they are hoping the organisation will return to a more relevant UN.

Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis was among the many world leaders calling for transformation and a greater focus on addressing issues versus simply discussing them.

Meantime, outspoken backbencher – Pineridge Member of Parliament (MP) Frederick McAlpine – lambasted the government for its “Gussie Mae” delegation that travelled to New York.

Thirteen government, police officers and broadcasting corporation representatives accompanied Dr. Minnis and his wife to the UN.

During debate on the Fiscal Responsibility Bill in the House of Assembly Friday, McAlpine said that despite the government’s cry that there is no money, its actions tell a different story.
